Nyack Village Court vs. Orangetown Justice Court — What's the Difference?
This is one of the most important distinctions for any defendant in this part of Rockland County to understand. Nyack is a Village located within the Town of Orangetown, but it operates its own independent court. If you received a ticket or were arrested within the incorporated boundaries of the Village of Nyack — the walkable downtown, the waterfront, Main Street, Broadway — your case is in Nyack Village Court, not Orangetown Justice Court. If you received a ticket or were arrested in one of the surrounding unincorporated hamlets of Orangetown (such as Pearl River, Blauvelt, or Tappan), your case is in Orangetown Justice Court. Your summons will name the court. If you're unsure, call us — we'll confirm immediately.
